Casa rural on the southern tip of the Canary Island of La Palma with stunning Atlantic views
The restored, typical Canarian villa in Fuencaliente, the southernmost municipality of the island, is very well maintained.
It is elongated and the rooms line up one after the other, all with such fantastic views to the huge terrace and the sea and sunrise.
Its rustic charm comes from the beautiful wooden ceilings, cosy seating niches by the windows and the porch - the pergola - that runs the entire length of the building. It provides shade and protection from the weather, allowing the inside and outside to blend. A table for four right next to the kitchen invites you to eat outside.
The terrace in front of the house is enormous: it is very large and offers an almost unbelievable view of the south coast, a vineyard and the vast ocean.
Several benches, sun loungers and another table with chairs offer guests a variety of ways to enjoy the view outdoors. A historic (secured) well provides a bit of a Wild West feel to this remote, expansive area.
On a clear day, you can even see the neighbouring islands of Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro. When the Canary archipelago visualises itself like this, few people are left untouched.
In addition to the sublime sea panorama, the remote location in the sparsely populated area also allows for a great view of the starry sky of the Starlight Reserve La Palma.
Villa Los Torrres I offers two bedrooms, each lovingly furnished with beautiful wooden furniture and a flat-screen TV with satellite reception.
The rather sparsely furnished living room is located between the two rooms, here you will find a nice couch as well as a glass table with two wooden chairs, some books and illustrated books as well as a wine rack. To get to the kitchen and the bathroom, you cross one of the bedrooms. The bathroom is well equipped with a shower and storage space. The separate kitchen offers a small table with two chairs and otherwise everything you need, such as a washing machine, internet or a microwave (except a dishwasher).
The approach to the house is a bit unusual at the beginning, but is completely compensated by the location.
You descend a stone staircase to the house and the terrace in front of it.
By rental car, you can reach the accommodation from the airport in about 25 minutes. The island capital Santa Cruz de La Palma is about 35 minutes away. In Fuencaliente itself, following the main road near the accommodation to the sea, you will find several small beaches, such as Playa Echentive, Playa La Zamora (with a recommendable fish kiosk) or the beach by the two lighthouses near the salt works, where you will also find the theme restaurant "Jardín de La Sal".
Above Las Caletas in Los Canarios you can do your shopping and go out to eat.
Several restaurants and, for example, the wine cellar Bodegas Teneguía await you there. The bar "La Parada" with the famous almond biscuits "almendrados" and the award-winning bakery "Zulay" are also located there. Next to the visitor centre of the volcano San Antonio is the recommendable restaurant-bodega "Casa del Volcán".
