Casa Morera is located in the beautiful south of the Canary Island of La Palma
The traditional 18th century country house has been carefully restored.
Wooden elements such as window niches and floors have been preserved. The building was the first town hall of the municipality of Fuencaliente and still exudes this stately charm today. It is located at the foot of the San Antonio volcano in the tranquil neighbourhood of the small town of Los Quemados, between the larger towns of Las Indias and Los Canarios, where there are larger supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and also bodegas. In Los Quemados itself, the village is quite steep, you will find a restaurant: "La Puesta del Sol". You need a rental car here, you can park on the enclosed property with automatic garden gate.
From the wooden balcony of Casa Morera you have a fantastic view of the sea and the volcanic landscape.
The garden with terrace in front is beautifully overgrown with shady trees and subtropical flowering plants. Here you will also find the old cistern, which served as a well in its time. Casa Morera offers many possibilities to use the outdoor area effortlessly. Another patio terrace is accessible from the side of the house and from the master bedroom – here you can enjoy the first rays of sun directly after waking up. In front of the house there is a wooden dining table, a brick barbecue and a sink.
On the ground floor of the house is the cosy living room with sofa, TV, dining area and open kitchen, as well as the bathroom and a utility room with washing machine.
The skilfully restored wooden staircase leads to the first floor, where the two bedrooms are located. From the staircase, where there is also a comfortable reading chair with footstool, you have access to the sea view balcony. The two bedrooms are also furnished with high-quality wooden furniture. The entire upper floor shares the quaint Canarian wooden ceiling, which means that the bedrooms are open to the top and not acoustically separated from each other.
In Fuencaliente you will find secluded beaches or beaches used by the Fuencalenteros for swimming, diving, walking or eating out...
Above Playa Zamorra is a popular fish kiosk, Playa Las Cabras is a diving spot and Playa Echentive was named one of the most beautiful beaches in the archipelago by a Canary magazine. At the southern tip of the island, by the two lighthouses, is another small beach. Here are also the famous salt pans of Fuencaliente, where the valuable sea salt is scooped by hand. The themed restaurant "El Jardín de La Sal" offers excellent Atlantic cuisine and wines from the region.
Furthermore, the sparsely populated Fuencaliente is ideal for stargazing.
Not far from Casa Morera is the San Antonio Volcano Visitor Centre and several bodegas that grow their grapes on the fertile lava sands, where you can taste and buy their special wines.
You are here at the southern tip of the island, drive around to the east and you will come to Mazo and the capital Santa Cruz de La Palma, the laurel forest of Cubo de La Galga to San Andrés y Sauces. Head west along the road newly built through the lava of the Tajagoite volcano to Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso, the Caldera de Taburiente, Puerto de Tazacorte or the green northwest with the municipalities of Tijarafe, Puntagorda and Garafía.
