Casa Sonrisa puts a smile on the face of its visitors
The holiday home offers an ideal ambience for nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity.
The view sweeps over the Atlantic Ocean and the Mirador de Matos, to which one can take a hike.
Guests appreciate the fact that the village can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes if you want to go for a walk in the evening or drink a good island wine with dinner.
The charming little house is situated in a dreamlike solitary location in the midst of untouched nature on a 5000 sqm finca in the northwest of La Palma below the village of Puntagorda.
Casa Sonrisa is ideal for couples, and there is also room for a baby.
Casa Sonrisa welcomes its guests with Mediterranean flora: Olives, mimosas, figs and nisperos grow right by the driveway
The entrance area is richly decorated with flowers and romantically overgrown, giving visitors a view of the large terrace on the west side in front of the house.
Everyone is sure to find their favourite spot here – whether it's to eat at the large wooden table with semi-circular bench, or at the small settee with rattan armchairs.
It is a perfect place to enjoy magnificent sunsets over the sea with an unobstructed view. The evening light bathes the finca in pleasant and calming hues.
Two sun loungers are available for extensive sunbathing, and a large parasol provides shade.
The finca is lushly planted and surprises with different garden themes. In the back area there are various fruit trees, such as avocado, mango, peach, oranges and lemons. Walking through the garden on a landscaped path, you will also encounter guavas, pitangas, pomegranates and ornamental plants.
On the back terrace you are greeted in the morning by the rising sun, whose still gentle rays invite you to linger.
Here, too, there is a small seating area with a parasol. The scent of lavender, rosemary, thyme and jasmine surrounds the house and the surrounding idyll often conjures a smile of calm and serenity on the faces of the guests.
Under a mimosa tree in the garden, a cosy spot in the shade has been created, and on the bench one likes to settle down with a book.
The style of the house is unique – a successful mix of modernity and antiques with an oriental touch.
The beautiful white wooden gable roof can be found in almost all rooms and the different widths of the beams add to the ambience.
The small dining table is sufficient for two people and is located directly at the window with a view into the green garden.
The small but well-equipped kitchen fits perfectly into the living room and leads directly to the rear terrace, so that you can comfortably have breakfast in the morning sun.
In a large wooden showcase you will find everything you need for self-catering.
The living room, which appears spacious due to the high wooden gable roof, has been very individually designed and is the centre of the house.
Two large leather-covered armchairs and an unusual table with a brass top, both from South America, find their place on an oriental carpet.
The furnishings are complemented by solid wood furniture and two rattan seat cushions. Between the living room and the kitchen is the modern bathroom with shower/WC.
A small hallway with bookshelves leads to the bedrooms.
The master bedroom impresses with two large glass doors that lead to the terrace and the garden respectively.
Between them is a small desk.
Two separate hard foam mattresses in the double bed ensure a restful sleep.
The second bedroom is small but very cosy and perfect if you want to sleep separately. The single bed has a comfortable width of 1.20m.
Casa Sonrisa is also a pleasant holiday retreat in winter, as all rooms except the bedroom have underfloor heating.
